ORGANIZATION

  • Re-route 19/129 to alternate route around downtown – 15

  • Funding, sources of – 2

  • Eliminate left turn at Young Harris Street – 1

  • Provide incentives for building rehabs - 1

  • Maintain our enthusiasm about this downtown work – 0

  • Create standard signage ordinance – 0

  • No pickup truck loitering – 0

ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING

  • No cookie cutter stuff but unique to Blairsville – 5
    (context: unique shopping, merchandise, crafts, hand made, etc.)

  • Walkable eating establishments, unique, local – 0

  • Charming specialty shops – 0

  • Tie to Appalachian craft studies at NGC&SU – 0

PROMOTION

  • Promote downtown businesses as a destination – 7

  • Hold events that attract people – 6

  • Provide entertainment at night – 3

  • Need a directory of downtown businesses – 2

  • Use downtown for special events – 0

DESIGN

  • Landscape beautification – 15*

  • Need a streetscape with plan for curbs/parking/lights/seating; – 15*
    This incorporates other items in this list and is a top priority, involving much of the total downtown design. Facilitators recommend consolidating these items marked by an asterisk in all planning of committee actions.

  • Keep Blairsville identity and character intact – 10*

  • Provide adequate parking downtown – 10*
